Yugo and Albert at Desert Botanical Garden

The Desert Botanical Garden is a wonder not to be missed if you live or visiting the greater Pheonix metro area.  According to tripadvisor.com, it is the #2 top attraction in Phoenix.  The Garden opened to the public in 1939 and is located at 1201 N. Galvin Parkway, Phoenix, AZ 85008.

The Desert Botanical Garden sits on 140 acres with over 50,000 desert plants on display.  More than 500,000 people visit annually.  The Garden features 5 different trails for you to walk and experience the unique and beautiful plants.

With all of the walking around, you may get hungry.  They have a fabulous restaurant on the grounds, Gertrude’s Restaurant.  Known for its seasonally-inspired cooking, Gertrude’s combines American favorites with classic cooking techniques and flavors from around the globe.  Seasonal menus celebrate Arizona’s growers and producers while offering a sophisticated culinary experience in a reserved oasis setting.

The Desert Botanical Garden hosts many special events.  Be sure to check out their events page to see upcoming events.

One of our favorite events are Dog Days at the Garden.

Normally you can’t bring your dogs with your to the Garden unless it is a service animal.  However, they have special days when you can bring your furry friend.  Right now, Dog Days are every Saturday in January.  You and dog are allowed between 8am – 11am with the last dog admission being 10:30am.  Dog Days is included in the price of admission and dogs are admitted free with owners.

Yugo loves to walk the trails and he loves seeing other dogs.  He especially loves to see other Cavaliers.  Watch out for things that might stick to your dogs!  Trust us, it happens.

Another great event at the Garden is Las Noches De Las Luminarias around the holidays.

They light up the Garden with 8,000 flickering luminarias and twinkling lights.  In addition, they have live music and you can enjoy a festive drink.
