AI generated mural of Phoenix for 602 Day

Phoenix has a lot of things going for it, the sunshine, the food scene, the neighborhoods, the lifestyle. But once a year, the city takes a full day to celebrate what makes it uniquely, unapologetically Phoenix. That day is 602 Day.

If you’re new to the area or just haven’t paid attention to it yet, here’s everything you need to know about 602 Day and why it’s one of my favorite reminders of why I love living and working in the Greater Phoenix area.

What Is 602 Day?

602 Day is an annual citywide celebration held on June 2 (6/02) honoring Phoenix’s most iconic area code. The City of Phoenix launched it in 2024, and it’s grown fast. The inaugural event had over 100 participating businesses. By 2025, that number climbed past 250. This year, for 2026, more than 350 local businesses, cultural institutions, and community organizations are taking part.

The idea is simple: spend your dollars locally, discover something new, and show some love for the city you call home.

What’s Happening on 602 Day 2026

This year’s 602 Day falls on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, and the Valley is pulling out all the stops.

$6.02 Deals and Discounts All Day

Restaurants, shops, and service providers across Phoenix are offering $6.02 specials, 6.02% discounts, and 602-themed limited offers. A few standouts:

  • Phoenix Zoo — Admission drops to just $6.02 per ticket. Gates open at 6:02 a.m.
  • Arizona Science Center — General admission (adults and kids) is just $6.02. Use promo code 602DAY in person.
  • Rainbow Ryders — A hot air balloon ride over the Sonoran Desert for $160.20 per person. Use promo code PHX602 at checkout (sunrise flights only).
  • AZ Lemonade Stand — Two 16 oz bottles plus a vinyl sticker for $6.02.
  • 3A Automotive Service — Full synthetic oil change for $60.02 the whole week of June 2.

Phoenix Public Library

Visit any branch, ask for the “How Do You 602?” secret code, and you’ll earn 25 bonus points in the Summer Reading Game. You can also grab a 602 Day sticker and make a custom bookmark while supplies last.

Limited-Edition 602 Day Merch

Local lifestyle brand State Forty Eight designed this year’s exclusive 602 Day t-shirt. It’s available for pre-order on their website and is the kind of thing you’ll actually wear year-round.

Sports Teams and Cultural Partners

The Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Rising FC, and the Desert Botanical Garden are all participating. Keep an eye on each organization’s social channels for their specific offers.

Why 602 Day Matters Beyond the Deals

The deals are fun, but 602 Day is really about something bigger. It’s a celebration of Phoenix’s identity. The restaurants that have been here for decades, the boutiques started by locals with a good idea, and the businesses run by families who have built their lives here.

As someone who has spent years working with buyers and sellers across Scottsdale, McCormick Ranch, Gainey Ranch, and North Scottsdale, I can tell you that the local community is one of the biggest selling points of this area. People who move here don’t just fall in love with the weather or the homes. They fall in love with the lifestyle. Events like 602 Day are part of that lifestyle.

Christina’s Take

Every year, I talk to buyers who are relocating here and have questions about what makes Phoenix different from other cities they’ve considered. My answer usually starts with the obvious stuff, sunshine, outdoor living, world-class golf, incredible dining. But it also includes this: the people here are proud of their city. 602 Day is a perfect example of that.

It’s also a great excuse to explore a neighborhood you haven’t spent much time in. Some of the best pockets of Phoenix, areas that might be on your radar if you’re thinking about buying, are easier to discover when local businesses are rolling out the welcome mat. If you’re considering a move to the area, June 2nd is a genuinely good day to get out and look around.
